Obituary: Los Angeles Times, 2/3/2018Joan Susan Cottier Molloy, "Suzy," passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at age 71, surrounded by her loving husband, five children and seven grandchildren.

Suzy was born in Chicago, IL, on April 18, 1946 and was a resident of Malibu, CA, for over twenty years, having previously lived in Westwood and Pacific Palisades, CA. She was a proud member of the first graduating class of Louisville High School in 1964. Suzy received her BA in English in 1968 from the University of Southern California, where she was a proud member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Suzy earned her California Lifetime Teaching Credential in 1970, and subsequently received her Master's in English and Master's in Education, all from USC. Suzy was cherished by her multitude of USC friends and was a lifelong supporter of all things Trojan, especially football.

Suzy was a devout Catholic and attended Mass regularly throughout the years at both St. Martin of Tours in Brentwood and Corpus Christi in Pacific Palisades. A teacher for over 35 years, Suzy touched the lives of more than a thousand children and "Mrs. Molloy" ended her career at St. Augustine School in Culver City, CA. Suzy was entirely selfless and hard working. Whether it was cooking her famous St. Patrick's Day feast for her fellow teachers every year or planning the schedules and meals for her five children while grading papers, she constantly had others in mind. Her home was always filled with her children's friends and she was a mother and mentor to all. She loved to visit Newport Beach and Rancho Mirage, enjoyed watching golf and British mysteries on Sundays.

She was always so pleased and filled with such great pride and love when surrounded by her children and grandchildren, listening to their raucous laughter.

Suzy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John E. and Rosemary C. Cottier, her son Casey, and her younger brother, John E. Cottier, III.

Suzy is survived by her brother Jay E. Cottier, her loving husband of almost 50 years (June 8), John J. Molloy III ("Jay"); her daughters, Kelly Rose McDaniel (Douglas) and Susan Maureen Molloy; sons, Sean Cottier Molloy, Michael Patrick Molloy (Regina), and Ryan John Molloy (Allison); grandchildren, Finnian, Caitlin, Zachary, Devon, Abigail, Micky, Riley, and one on the way (Ryan and Allison).

A Visitation will be held at 5:00 P.M, Thursday, February 8, 2018 followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M., at Gates, Kingsley and Gates Catholic Mortuary, 4220 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City, CA 90230. A Requiem Mass and Funeral will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 880 Toyopa Dr., Pacific Palisades, CA 90272, with a Reception to immediately follow. A burial procession will lead to interment at San Fernando Mission Catholic Cemetery, 11160 Stranwood Ave., Mission Hills, CA 91345.

Flowers are welcome but hugs and kisses for your loved ones is preferred.
