Parley passed away at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 1964 at Holy Cross Hospital of a traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage. He had hospitalized since being in a car accident on June 16, 1964 at 3300 South and Main Street. Parley suffered a broken neck, fractured skull, and cuts and bruises. He resided at 60 West Stratford Avenue (2554 South) in South Salt Lake at the time of his death.

He was born February 4, 1882 in Taylor, Arizona and was the son of the late Alexander Gilmore McCleve and Emma Cecelia Jennings. He married Eliza Percinda Thompson on November 2, 1907 in Taylor, Arizona; the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1955. He later married Ethel G. Pedersen on December 27, 1955 in Salt Lake City.

At the time of his death, Parley was survived by his wife; sons and daughters, Kenneth T., Frank C., Mrs. Jack (Ida) Allen, all of Salt Lake City; Parley R. of Magna; Mansel LeRoy of Oakland, California; James Duane of Granger; Mrs. Floioyd J. (Della) Herlin of Kearns; Mrs. Richard (LaVon) Ray of Mesa, Arizona. 21 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; brother, sisters, Cyrus of Mesa, Arizona; Mrs. Jane Jackson of Gilbert, Arizona; Mes. Eliza Wakefield of Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 8, 1964 at 1:00 p.m. at the Colonial Mortuary located at 2128 South State Street. A viewing was held at the mortuary on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday one hour prior to the services.
Parley was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in East Millcreek, Utah.
