Robert M. French
ANDERSON - Robert M. "Red" French, 81, of Anderson, and formerly of Elwood, died Feb. 5, 2006, at St. John's Health Systems in Anderson.
He was born Aug. 29, 1924, in Elwood, to Luther and Nora Myers French.
He married Maxie Tinker Nov. 20, 1948.
He retired from Guide Lamp in Anderson. He served in the Air Force during World War II with the 440th Group, 98th Squadron. He was a member of UAW No. 663, the Elwood Eagles and was a life member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Maxie French; two daughters, Jane Taker of Anderson and Cheryl and husband, Bobby Huff of Hartford City; a son, Michael and wife, Carolyn French of Forestell, Mo.; two brothers, Earl French of Brownsville, Texas and Howard French of Shelby, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Clint Litaker of Elwood, Aaron Litaker of Anderson, Shelly Israel of Elwood, Chad Boze of Elwood, Treva Roe of Elwood, Mike Israel of Elwood, Tonia" Blackwell of Anderson and Mikie French, of Elwood; 16 greatgrandchildren; special friend, Joe Frazee of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Kelly and Bobbi Huff; two sisters, Dorothy French and Mildred Gentry; a brother, Russell French and a great-grandchild, Ketee Huff.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, , 2006, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, with Rich Leavell officiating. The Elwood VFW will conduct a military service at the funeral home following the funeral service as cremation was chosen. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
