Martha Maxine Parson, 89, of Huntsville, died at her home on Jan. 29, 2018.

She was born Dec. 3, 1928, at the family home place on the mountain above the Jones community.

She is the daughter of John Eli and Maggie Jones.

She was a homemaker and farmer. She loved to make quilts for her family and do word search books.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh "Monk" Parson; her parents; three brothers, Oren Jones, Lawrence Jones and Ewell Jones; and three sisters, Addie Richardson, Amy Boyd and Elsie Hamilton.

Survivors include two sisters, Opal Parker of Gonzales, Texas, and Thelma Gayer of Wichita, Kan.; one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Beth Parson of Cave Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Norman Roach of Huntsville, and Donna Seymour and Ed Brewer of Fayetteville; 11 grandchildren, Martha Clark and Dwunna Vanhook, Secily and Justin Brown, Dr. Leah and Dr. Erik Mitchell, Justin and Elizabeth Seymour, Holly Parson, Debbie Seymour, Michael and Jennifer Roach; and 11 great-grandchildren, Brennen, Aubrey and Jacob Seymour, Zachariah and John Alexander Brown, Rylan and Rhett Mitchell, Mason, Austin, Kayli and Wyatt Roach, and Anaya and Araya Gragg.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, in Bruce Brashears Memorial Chapel with Jim Spurlock of officiating.

Pallbearers were Justin Seymour, Brennen Seymour, Michael Roach, Mason Roach, Austin Roach and Justin Brown.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Erik Mitchell, Jacob Seymour, Wyatt Roach, Jerry Ledbetter, Josh Murr and Darian Reynolds.

Interment followed at Wharton Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
