Mr. Lewis H. Thrift, 90, of Waycross died Saturday morning at his residence. He was born June 16, 1916 in Ware County to Simon Thrift and Nettie Lee Thrift. He has made Ware County his home all of his life.

Mr. Thrift was retired from the Ware County Health Department and was a member of Faith Temple Church. Mr. Thrift loved to watch and listen to sports on the TV and radio. Mr. Thrift served his country in the United States Army, European Theatre during World War II. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Carrie Thrift, Bertie Cox, Mary Alexander, Grace Dean, and a brother Rufus Thrift.

Mr. Thrift is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pauline Thrift of Waycross, four children, Fred Mistretta and his wife Jean of Atlanta, Rosa Adams and her husband Larry of Waycross, Mary Kitchens of Waycross, Carol Youmans and her husband John of Waycross, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday at the graveside in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 am Monday, at the graveside.
