Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, February 3, at Brintlinger and Earl Cerro Gordo Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Clinton Fire Department Honor Guard.
Bud was born July 10, 1928 in Macon, IL, son of Dewey Forrest and Audra (Cunningham) West. He married Burlene Horton on September 26, 1948. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1986.
Bud served his country with the U.S. Naval Reserve. He owned and operated Bud's Plumbing and Heating in Cerro Gordo, retiring after 40 years. Bud enjoyed mowing and was very passionate and took great pride with his lawn. He also enjoyed boating and camping, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bud was a member of Cerro Gordo Lodge #600 AF & AM, American Legion Post 117, Cerro Gordo Lions Club, and was on the Piatt County Fair Board for 20 years. He was a 55 year member of the Cerro Gordo Fire Department where he was Fire Chief from 1965-1966.
Surviving are his son: Randy West and wife Michelle of Cerro Gordo; grandchildren: Blake West and wife Sarah of Maroa, IL, John West and wife Julie of Indianapolis, IN, Jeff West of St. Louis, MO, Joyce Bush and husband Ben of Moweaqua, IL; step-grandchildren: Justin Eveland of Decatur, IL, Joshua Like of Estes Park, CO, and Jennifer Like of Savanah, GA; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Terry West, and sisters Virginia Gregory and Ruby Smith.
