In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mrs. Mildred Cannon Pilkenton.
Mr. Cannon graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College, was a Captain in the NC National Guard, retired from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, a member of Hibriten Masonic Lodge #262 A.F. & A.M, and a member of Colliers United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Sheldenia Hartley Cannon of the home, one son Chuck Cannon and wife Karen of Lenoir, two grandchildren McKenzie and Matthew Cannon both of Lenoir.
Funeral services were held at Colliers United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Julie E Neal. Interment was in the church cemetery. Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
