There were 3 children of the marriage, all born in the UK - Winnifred Joyce Graham (1904-1988), Frederick Allenson Rutter (1909-1909) and Allenson Gordon Rutter (1912-1992). Emigrated from London with his wife and 2 surviving children bound for Wellington, New Zealand on 27th March 1913 aboard the ship 'Athenic' arriving in May 1913. They took up residence in Masterton where he worked as a monumental stonemason with Hoar and Sons until the mid 1950's. He retired to Ashburton following his wife's death in 1952.

Died in Ashburton Hospital in December 1966. Retired stonemason. His wife Edith Rutter is buried in Archer Street Cemetery, Masterton.
