Alice E. Alston

Alice E. Alston (nee Yates), 84, of Avon Lake died Friday at Vermilion manor Nursing Home after a two-month illness.

A former resident o Sheffield Lake, Mrs. Alston moved to Avon Lake seven years ago. She had worked as a cashier for Gang's Market for 15 years and attended Christian Heritage Assembly of God in Avon and was a former member of the Congregational Church of Sheffield Lake.

She was a very active supporter of the Boy and Girl Scouts.

Survivors include sons, Neal of Avon and David of Holland, Pa.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Myron Yates of El Segundo, Calif., and Horace Yates of Youngstown; sister, Anna Boyer of Youngstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, and a sister, Elsie Fairbanks.

Friends may call 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today at Burmeister Funeral Home, Busch Family Chapel, 163 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake, where services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. John Bunney, pastor of Christian Heritage Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Lorain.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 43099 North Ride Rd., Lorain.
