Eugene Gene Kralik, 79, of Creston, died Thursday, January 25, 2018 at his home in Creston following heart complications.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Avenue in Creston. Pastor Phil Price will officiate.

Burial will be private at a later date.

Open visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, January 27, with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Powers Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be established in Gene's name. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.

Eugene Laverne Kralik, son of Harold Roy Kralik and Hazel Margaret (Quinn) Kralik, was born August 1, 1938 in Cromwell, Iowa. He attended school in Nevinville, graduating from Richland High School.

On March 2, 1957, Eugene married Carol Mikkelsen. They lived and farmed in the Nevinville area while raising their three sons: Randy, Mike and Jeff. Gene also owned Kralik Trucking, custom hauling cattle and grain for many area farmers. In 1984, he began working for John Kenny of Warner Trucking, hauling throughout the U.S., until moving from the farm to Greenfield. While there, he was employed by Schildberg Construction for 28 years, from 1987 until retiring in 2015. Eugene & Carol relocated to the city limits of Creston in 2003, where they enjoyed retirement together the last three years.

Gene was a member of the Creston Elks' Lodge and was an Honorary Member of the FFA. He was a former member of the Creston's Eagles Lodge.
Gene was a friend to many over the years, including many trucking buddies at Schildberg's. Gene & Carol had a close group of lifelong friends whom they enjoyed many vacations, truck & tractor pulls and social times throughout the years, and yet today, causing him to be truly missed by many friends, as well as precious family members.

Survivors include his wife Carol of Creston; two sons, Randy (wife Theresa) Kralik of Raymore, Mo. and Jeff (wife Marcia) Kralik of Creston; daughter-in-law, Patti Kralik of Creston; 7 grandchildren; Dustin (wife Lindsey) Kralik of Norwalk, Staci Spilinek of Raymore, Mo., Katlyn (husband Clint) Nickerson of Raymore, Mo., Caleb (wife Charlotte) Kralik of Norwalk, Cole (significant other Taryn Charles) Kralik of Arvada, Colo., Jordan (wife Oakel) Kralik and Kilee (fiancée Caleb Nelson) Kralik of Winterset; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Standley of Papillion Neb. and Betty (husband Chet) Abel of Creston.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Tom & Nina Mikkelsen and a son, Mike Kralik in 1989
