BIO:
Bruce Howard Ditlow died attempting to save Benjamin G. Walker from suffocation, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, June 13, 1981. Benjamin, 8, entered a cesspool tank and was overcome by carbon dioxide. Ditlow, 24, paramedic, squeezed through a narrow manhole into the tank and then was also overcome. Benjamin was removed by others, revived, and hospitalized. Ditlow was removed but could not be revived. He received the Carnegie Hero Award for his actions.
