Norma Jane Coe, 94, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2018, at the home of her grand-daughter, Jessica Wells. Norma was born on December 24, 1923, in Milton, Oregon, to Floyd and Mildred Coffman and grew up on the Dry Creek family homestead, the sixth of seven children. She graduated from Mac-Hi in 1942 and attended Oregon State College until the country entered the Second World War.

Norma married Charles Ray Johnson in 1944 and they had two children, Jackie and Nancy.; Mr. Johnson died in 1947.

She married James Arthur Coe in 1949 and the family grew with the addition of children Sara, Jim, David, Alicia, Jenny, Emily, and Matthew.

Norma worked for 19 years at Nelson Irrigation, after retirement at ages 70 she was seldom idle. She traveled with friends and family to Europe, Panama, Japan, and Mexico, and visited her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren through the united States.

She volunteered her time at the Food Pantry, Christian Aid Center, St. Mary's hospital fits shop and Cancer Center, and played cards weekly with her high school friends after lunching at the Milton-Freewater Senior Citizen Center.

A life-long member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Milton-Freewater and First Presbyterian Church of Walla Walla, Norma gave her time as deacon, choir member, volunteer at Vacation Bible School, and Walk to Emmaus.

Norma was preceded in death by infant son, Matthew (1967),; and grandson, Brian Madison (1974); first husband, Charles Ray Johnson, Second Husband, James Arthur Coe; and siblings, Elgin Coffman, Robert Coffman, Margaret Lieuallen, Catherine Swanson, Thomas Coffman, and Joseph Coffman.

She is survived by her children, Jackie Wood, Nancy Smithson, Sara Hibbert (Art), James A. Coe (Cathy), David Coe, Alicia Herres (Dan), Jenny Farnham (Mike), Emily Marks (David); and 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephew,s and many friends.

In lieu of flowers Norma requested that donations be made to the Christian Aid Center, the First Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 23, at 1p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 325, s. 1st Ave. Walla Walla.
