Billy J. Burton, Sr., of Chillicothe, died 3:37 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born August 29, 1935 in Cynthiana, Kentucky to the late Grange J. and Emma Profitt Burton. On October 13, 1954 he married the former Janet L. Schrake who preceded him in death May 15, 1991.

Surviving are three children; two stepdaughters; companion of 25 years, Carolyn, of Chillicothe; six grandchildren; a great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Eunice, Virginia, Mary and three brothers, Elwood, Thomas and Morton.

Billy was a retired stone mason and a U.S. Navy Korean veteran.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Overly Chapel Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME form 5-7 p.m. on Saturday.
