Darrell A. Triplett, 85 passed from this world on January 21, 2018.

Darrell was the youngest son of John T. and Alta Jane Essary Triplett. He was born on the family farm on May 16, 1932.

Darrell attended school at a little country school house known as Lone Pilgrim. In 1951, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he was trained at Great Lakes, IL. and was stationed on the U.S.S. Manchester as well as on base in Sasebo, Japan. He received his honorable discharge in 1954. After his discharge, Darrell went to work for Robinson Neon in Bolivar, putting up signs for a number of years.

Darrell was an amateur HAM radio operator. His call sign was K9AHN in Illinois and WO7YD in Missouri. He immensely enjoyed talking to other operators all over the world. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially for squirrel, deer, and rabbit.

On October 26, 1953, Darrell was married to Wanda M. Marshall, eldest daughter of Wayne and Opal Marshall. To this union a baby girl, Cindy, was born on September 15, 1955. She preceded her father in death on December 14, 2014.

Darrell is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, as well as two grandchildren: Jennie Fetters of Bolivar, MO. and Nick Sloan of Springfield, MO. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Chelsie Evans and Larry Fetters III of Bolivar, MO., Lillian Rose Sloan and Charlotte Grace of Springfield, MO. He also leaves behind his dear friend, Shellieann Nies of Bolivar, MO.

A graveside service will be held for Darrell on Thursday, Janaury 25, 2018 at 2 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery. Services will be held under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO.
