Rachel Elaine Hartsell Greene, age 91, of Cameron, SC, now resides with her Lord and Savior. She ended her earthly journey at home on Sunday, January 21, 2018. Rachel was born on March 24, 1926 in the Township of Kannapolis in Cabarrus County, NC. She was daughter of the late Henry D. Hartsell and Myrtle White Hartsell. She was predeceased by her daughter: Terry Lee Greene; her brothers: Hoyt, Glenn and Jerry Hartsell; and one sister: Eunice H. Sechler.
She was married to the late Jesse M. Greene, Jr. for over 70 years. Rachel loved her family, church, Joy group, her grandchildren, gardening, fishing on the pier, sewing, rocking on her porch talking to God and, most of all, the love of her life, “Jesse”. She had a great sense of humor, quick wit and knew her Bible. Her loving heart and gift of hospitality is her legacy to all who knew her. She was a wonderful loving Mother of which to be proud. She was a member of Four Holes Baptist Church, the Adult V Sunday School Class and the Four Holes Joy Group.
Survivors include her children: Sherry Paul (Kelly), Jesse Greene, III (Donna) and David Greene (Carol); seven grandchildren: Kelly, Keith, Kristie, Jesse, Ashley, Daniel and Wesley; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Four Holes Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tom McElhaney officiating. Burial will follow in Four Holes Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service from 11 AM - 12 noon at the church. Memorials may be made to Four Holes Baptist Church, Joy Group, 1622 Four Holes Road, Orangeburg, SC 29115.
