Mrs. Jones was born in Anson County, Gulledge Township, North Carolina Nov. 2, 1917. She attended North Carolina Women?s College at Greensboro, N.C, and received a degree for legal secretary.
She and Earl, Sr. were married March 21, 1937 and moved to Texarkana, AR in October, 1947 to open Belk Jones Dept. Store. The Jones family became active members of Beech Street Baptist Church and worshipped there for 37 years and later moved their membership to the First United Methodist Church, AR at age 70. They have been very active in both social and civic life since establishing their home in Texarkana.
