Obit: Pearle E. Pence, 77, a resident of Porter township, Clarion county, Penna, died Sunday, December 9, 1956 in the Brookville hospital. Mrs. Pence, a daughter of Milton and Margaret J. Burns [Hepler], was born August 26, 1879. She was married to William E. Pence who died January 16, 1902 [this is their marriage date]. She is survived by five daughters and one son; Mildred, Mrs. Clyde Walls, R3, New Bethlehem; Margaret, Mrs J. E. Goheen, Strattanville; Ruth, Mrs. Harry Swartfager, R3, New Bethlehem; Bernice, Mrs. Arthur Henry, R1, New Bethlehem; Alma Pence, at home, and Clarence Pence, R1 Brockway. She also leaves 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Zelda Swartfager, R3, New Bethlehem, and Mrs. Mary Shields, Niagara Falls, NY also survive. Mrs Pence was a member of the Leatherwood Presbyterian Church, the Ladies Aid Society, and Missionary Society of the church. Funeral services in her memory were held this Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Leatherwood Presbyterian church with the Rev. J. V. Mountain and the Rev. John Miller officiating. Burial under the direction of the Mateer Funeral Home was made in the Leatherwood Presbyterian cemetery.
