Opal Spencer, 89, of Casa Grande, died on Jan. 16, 2018, at home.

Mrs. Spencer was born on Nov. 27, 1928 in Miami, Arizona, to Doyle and Zorabelle (Maroney) Lee.

She met Walter C. Spencer while on a date with a friend of his. They celebrated 65 years of marriage last year. Shortly after they were married in the Mesa Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1952, Walter enlisted in the Army.

She became an accountant at JCPenney, where she retired after more than 20 years.

She was a devoted member of the LDS church and served in the Primary, teaching children for many years. She also was a member of the Relief Society women's organization.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Carol Atkinson, of Casa Grande; a son, Walter D. Spencer, of Casa Grande; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Lee.

Visitation beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, at the LDS Kortsen Building, with the service at 10. Burial at 1:30 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery.
