Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Leola Ladner Alexander, age 82, of Long Beach, passed into the arms of our savior on 01/20/2018.
Mrs. Alexander was born in Hancock County, the 14th of 15 children to Ola and Azelia Ladner on June 17, 1935.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles K. Alexander, son Charles Mitchell Alexander and grandson Christopher Michael Alexander, brothers Leon, Leran, Clarence, Nevill, Jimmy, Ola Jr, Royce, Carl Ladner and her sisters Viola Cuevas, Clara Hoda, Cleo Zahan and Essie Jewel Ladner.
She is survived by daughter, (LIVING) Gilliam (Alex) of Long Beach; sons, (LIVING) Alexander ((LIVING)) of Long Beach and (LIVING) Alexander ((LIVING)) of D’Iberville; brother, (LIVING) Ladner and sister, (LIVING) Ladner; grandchildren, (LIVING) ((LIVING)) Alexander, (LIVING) Alexander, (LIVING) ((LIVING)) Wescovich, (LIVING) Alexander, (LIVING) ((LIVING)) Herring, (LIVING) ((LIVING)) Alexander and (LIVING) Alexander; great-grandchildren, (LIVING)Alexander, (LIVING) Alexander, (LIVING) Wescovich, (LIVING) Wescovich, (LIVING) Herring, (LIVING) Alexander and (LIVING) Alexander; and dear friends, (LIVING) Wagner and (LIVING) Hoselle; sisters-in-law, (LIVING) Ladner, (LIVING)Clarke, (LIVING) ((LIVING)) Ferro; God children, (LIVING) Cuevas, (LIVING) Ladner, (LIVING)Ladner, (LIVING) Ladner, (LIVING) Cuevas, and (LIVING) Ladner; many nieces and nephews that she was blessed with her fourth generation of nieces and nephews and she loved them all.
Leola loved her faith and she joined the parish of St. Thomas Catholic Church in 1965. She was a member of the Parish Council, Liturgical, Condolence committees, The Altar Society, Saint Margaret’s Daughters, Long Beach Carnival Association. For many years she was involved in the CCD program and she was a Eucharistic Minister and a Foster parent for Catholic Social Service. Leola was blessed to be a part of and influence many children’s lives as a caregiver and babysitter. She loved each and every one of them as her own.
We would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice for their special care and love that they gave to our mother.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, from 11 am – 1 pm at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 720 East Beach Blvd., Long Beach, Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm in the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery at Rotten Bayou.
