Nathaniel (Bud) W. Durgin Sr., 82, resident of Danvers, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on July 24, 2017. Bud was born in Beverly, MA on December 11, 1934 and was the son of Nathalie (Wright) and George Durgin of Danvers. Bud married his wife and soulmate, Patricia (Michaud), and was married for 41 wonderful years. Their loving and devoted relationship carried them through many years of raising their children, numerous foster children, and dedicating themselves to children’s causes, animal rescue groups and military causes.
Bud was a member of the United States Air Force and became an aircraft mechanic during the Korean Conflict. His love of his country and aircraft followed him all the years of his life. After his service years, Bud worked in Quality Assurance management for several machine shops in Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire until his retirement He was a dedicated member of the Amity Masonic Lodge in Danvers and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
Bud embraced life and had many passions in his life, but nothing compared to his passion for his family and collecting models of classic military aircraft. He loved his children and grandchildren and was a proud and happy Grandfather until his passing. He was full of pride at their accomplishments and hoped that he always set a good example for them.
Bud was preceded in his passing by his parents George and Nathalie, his sister Gloria, his brother George, his daughter DiAnna and his in-laws Ludger and Marie Michaud who adored him. He is survived by his wife Patricia Durgin of Danvers, his step-children: Robert (Bob) Laurie and his wife Lee of Port Charlotte, FL, Douglas Morin and his wife Kimber of Middleton, Duane Morin of Danvers, Paula McHale and her husband Mark of Danvers, and Matthew Morin of Derry, NH. His grandchildren: Austin Morin, Brody Morin, Sean McHale, Kaylee McHale, Ryan McHale, Victoria Morin and Maxwell Morin. In addition, Bud is also survived by many very special nieces and nephews that have been a big part of his life.
