Mattie became the 2nd wife of D. Leslie Baugher in 1928, and thus step-mother to Geraldine and Charles Robert Baugher. They lived on the homestead of Leslie's father, Arthur O. Baugher, and it was in their pond that most of the early baptisms for the church took place. In 1947 they moved to Brookfield MO and became active in Park Baptist Church.
