Stanley C. Jett Sr.(1932 - 2017)

Stanley Charles Jett, Sr., 85, of Glen Burnie, passed away on Dec. 24, 2017. Stanley was born on January 4, 1932 in Baltimore to the late Lloyd D. Jett and Delores (Herr) Stewart. He was raised in Pig Town and left school in 8th grade to shine shoes so that he could take care of himself and his father. It was during this time that Stan developed a strong work ethic and a concern for others that followed him throughout his life. He met the love of his life Margaret C. Kessler, another Pig Town native, and they were married for 64 years - pushing for 65. Stan joined the United States Air Force and served his country faithfully and honorably. After his military service he became a Baltimore City Police Officer in the Southern District for 32 years. After his retirement from law enforcement, Stan embarked on another career and became Head of Security for Pimlico and Laurel Racetracks, and retired a 2nd time. He was a member of the American Legion Dewey Lowman Post 109, Fraternal Order of Police, and Monsignor Ripple Council, No. 5370 of the Knights of Columbus. His legacy of love as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather will live on with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jett; children, Sandra Ratcliffe (Colin), Barbara Jett, and Stanley C. Jett, Jr. (Dana); grandchildren, Michelle Estes (Michael), Bridget Ratcliffe, Stanley C. Jett, III (Katelyn), Tiffanie Leppo (Chad), Christian and Kirsty Arcarese; great grandchildren, Evan, Bella, Jackson, Taylor, and Haley; and a host of other relatives. The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, SW, (at Crain Hwy), Glen Burnie, on Wednesday, Jan. 3, from 10AM to12 Noon for a visitation. A celebration of Stan's life will follow at 12 Noon in the funeral home chapel. Interment MD Veterans Cemetery-Crownsville.
