Fallen peace officer. Deputy U.S. Marshal Christopher David Hill was shot and killed in the line of duty while serving a warrant on a fugitive in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Two other local task force officers were also struck by gunfire. Deputy Marshal Hill is the third law enforcement officer to be shot and killed in 2018 and the first officer fatality from a federal agency this year. Deputy Marshal Hill was a member of the U.S. Marshals Service Special Operations Group who previously led the fugitive search and apprehension of cop killer Eric Frein in 2014. Deputy Hill had served with the Marshals Service since 2006. He was an Army Ranger veteran who served in Afghanistan. Deputy Hill is survived by his wife, Sylvia Lee Hill and two children, son Travis and daughter Ashlynn.
