Mary Ellen ran the first home daycare that was licensed for twelve children with in the City of Stockton. She taught the children the basics of learning prior to them entering Kindergarten. Of the children that she had that went to school across the street, there were a couple of them who went into what was called the Gate Program. This was an advanced learning class.
She also had a degree in journalism from Delta College. Mary Ellen and a friend of hers went onto write articles for antique magazines. She also was envolved with a couple of mystery clubs. Mary Ellen created a couple of mysteries for the club's that she belonged to.
