William J. Coberley, 81, of Leesburg, FL was born November 17, 1936 in Toledo, OH and passed away January 16, 2018. Mr. Coberley worked in Toledo as a carpenter, while also serving in the Naval Reserve as a Seabee in the construction battalion, serving for 24 years and retiring as a Master Chief Builder.
After moving to Houghton Lake, MI in 1977 he worked as a construction manager and consultant. He owned and operated BC Consultants which specialized in school construction and operated in Michigan and Ohio. Mr. Coberley moved to Florida at the end of 1999 following the death of his first wife Donna Housley Coberley, whom he was married to for 43 years.
Upon moving to Leesburg, he became active in several organizations, most notably AMVETS Post 2006 where he was the 1st Commander. He was the Past Worthy President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and member of the American Legion as well as an outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He met and married his wife Rita in 2003 and they enjoyed many happy years together.
Survivors include: wife Rita of Leesburg; daughter Kelley (Ryan) Joyce of Lawton, OK; sons Dan (Michelle) Coberley of Baroda, MI and David (Lissa) Coberley of Deltona, FL; grandchildren: Ryan, Catherine, Emily, Joe, Halie, Corey, Aleia, Tygue, Cross, Taylor, Maryi and Brian and several Great- grandchildren; and a sister Lois Cason; step-daughters Jamie Murray, Valerie Ellis, Susan (Tom) Santanello, Linda (Rob) Bantz; step-son David Murray; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. In addition to his first wife Donna, Mr. Coberley was preceded in death by a daughter Karolyn Whitney in 2002; 3 brothers: John, Jim and Roy and his parents John and Lena Fisher Coberley.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced and held at a later date.
