Charles "Chuck" Edward Whiting, 86, of Marietta, OH passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 14, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 3, 1931 in Marietta to the late John Oscar and Pearl Garnet Thomas Whiting.

Chuck graduated from Marietta High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #64 and a 63 year member of Harmar Lodge #390, F&AM. He was and avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, loved to work in the yard and was very fond of animals. He retired from Kroger after 26 years and also worked as a specialty advertising salesman for 30 years.

He is survived by his beloved companion, Rita Wentz; son, Rick Whiting (Brenda) of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Kristin Lynn Whiting of Columbus, OH; stepchildren, Rick Wentz of Millersburg, OH and Renae Wentz of Marietta; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Merle Whiting.

A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta with Pastor Ron Calvert officiating. Full military honors will be observed. Visitation will be held from 12 P.M. until the time of service.
