September 5, 1962 - January 13, 2018 Mr. Gary Ray “Seymore” Barnett, 55 of Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital. He was born in Hamilton, Co., OH on September 5, 1962 the son of Calvin K. and Nina McClure Barnett. He was a construction worker, was of the Baptist Faith and attended Bible Baptist Church. He also enjoyed working and trail riding.
Mr. Barnett is survived by his wife: Diana Barnett of Mt. Vernon; five daughters: Tara Smith of Mt. Vernon, Kayla Barnett of Brodhead, Hazel Bullock of Mt. Vernon, Candace Caldwell and husband Ben of Mt. Vernon and Samantha Byrd and husband Jessie also of Mt. Vernon; five brothers: David Barnett and wife Marsha of Somerset, J.C. Barnett and wife Shanda, John Randall and wife Edith, Terry Barnett and wife Anita and Eddie Barnett and wife Liza all of Mt. Vernon and two sisters: Frances Price and husband Garry of Science Hill and Connie Hasty and husband Zandell of Mt. Vernon. Also surviving are grandchildren: Karlee and Addison Smith, Levi, Lydia, Ephraim, Amos, Addie, Jedidiah and Selah Caldwell and Eli and Ray Artley. In addition to his parents: Calvin and Nina Barnett, Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his grandparents: Goldie and Martha Barnett and John S. and Corene McClure and one brother: Calvin Barnett, Jr. Burial will be in the Ottawa Cemetery at Brodhead, KY.
