Adele Crooks, (née Watson) died unexpectedly after battling an infection on January 12, 2018 in St. Petersburg, FL at the age of 81.
Adele is survived by her four children and their spouses, Mark and Karen Crooks of Inman, SC, Cindy Crooks and Bill Parks of Palm City, FL, Douglas and Brenda Crooks of Shreveport, LA, and Samuel and Debbie Crooks of St. Petersburg, FL; siblings, Robert Watson of Port St. Lucie, FL, Raymond Watson of St. Petersburg, FL, and Carol Haggerty of Woodbridge, VA; eight loving grandchildren: Zachary, Matthew, Samuel, Emily, Ellen, Benjamin, Jonathan, and Nicholas; and her long time companion and friend, Patrick Donnelly. She is preceded in death by her husband Samuel Crooks, and brother Donald Watson.
Adele was born on December 12, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA to Earl and Marie Watson. She graduated from Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, PA, and attended night school at the University of Pittsburgh. She married Sam, her high school sweetheart in 1956. After moving to St. Petersburg in 1979, Adele began working at Garcia & Ortiz, CPAs, where she worked until she retired in 2009. She raised her children to be loving, self sufficient, and hard working. Adele was an avid golfer, and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. She was passionate about her family, friends, politics, and football!
A celebration of life is scheduled beginning with visitation at 11 AM on Saturday, January 20th at the National Cremation Society on 4945 E. Bay Drive, Clearwater, FL. A memorial service will be held at noon. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Adele's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, Inc. (www.blindness.org).
