All business and industry ceased during the funeral of the late Judge Samuel C. Keeler, which was held from St. James Church in this village this morning at 10 o'clock. The late judge was held in highest esteem throughout the county and Watkins respectfully paid him a last tribute.
Despite the weather conditions the church was crowded, many being present from Montour Falls and Dundee.
The Rev. G. W. Ebersole officiated and the floral offerings were profuse. The casket was borne by these members of the Schuyler County bar: Judge Olin T. Nye, Lewis H. Watkins, George M. Velie, Frank Johnson, Seaman F. Northrup, Bertrand W. Nye.
Judge Keeler died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Archer in New York City, but she was unable to attend the funeral, being quarantined in her home in the metropolis by the illness of her daughter who has measles. Mr. Archer accompanied the remains to this village.
The interment was in the family plot in the Montour Falls Cemetery.
