Ray Lee Baldner, 71, of Zanesville, died at 5:51 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2006 at Willow Haven Care Center. He was born January 12, 1935 at Industry, IL., a son of the late Ray C. and Margaret McKamy Baldner. Ray graduated from Augusta High School in Augusta, IL., attended the University of Maryland . He received his electrical training through the Air Force, and North American Aviation, which became Rockwell International in the aircraft division. During his employment with Rockwell, he had many different jobs, but one thing he was proud of was that he spent two years as an instructor of electronic procedures. He was employed by Rockwell from 1963 to 1991 in both Columbus and Tulsa, OK. While serving in the Air Force from September 1955 to October 1962, he had security clearance which carried over to Rockwell. His level of clearance was secret by the Bureau of Naval Weapons. During the Vietnam War he was on an aircraft carrier off the Vietnam Coast as a civilian working for North American. Ray has so many proud and important accomplishments. He was especially proud of his work on some of the instrumentation for the Space Shuttle, Columbia. He was a member of the Market Street Baptist Church, member of the Zanesville Singers and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1962, serving in England, Greece and the United States and was a member of the American Legion Post 29. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Siler Baldner, whom he married in 1996, two daughters, Susan(Charles)Berga of Zanesville and Nancy Tuininga of Escondido, CA., a son, Ray A.(Angie)Baldner of Colorado Springs, CO, a step-daughter Michelle Namowicz of Zanesville, ten grandchildren, Nicholas, Katie, Erica and Michael Berga, Alex and Brandy Tuininga , Chad and Mitchell Baldner and Bryan and Peter Namowicz and two sisters, Martha Drake and Mary Edith(Joyce)Farwell both of Augusta, IL. and two brothers, John(Judy)Baldner of LaHarp, IL. and Dewayne(Merrianne)Baldner of Michigan. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly E. Quaife Baldner in 1991. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 holding full military rites at the grave.
