Viola Dorothy Kupka, 83, of Canute, Oklahoma. Viola was born on August 7, 1934 in Calumet, Oklahoma to Dewey Laws and Mary Elizabeth (Brooks) Nix. She went to walk with her Savior in heaven on January 11, 2018 at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Viola married Gerald W. Kupka on June 23, 1953 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Canute, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2011.

Along with her husband she owned and operated Kupka Texaco Station in Canute for over twenty years. She also worked at the local tag agency for twenty-four years. Viola enjoyed cooking, taking care of her plants and spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Her family was her life and she savored every moment with them.

She was an active member of the Saint Matthew Catholic Church in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Canute, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Cherishing her memory are her children, Susan Brinkley of Elk City, Oklahoma, Timothy Kupka and his wife, Debbie of Elk City, Oklahoma, Deborah Pruitt and her husband, Jody of Newalla, Oklahoma, Michael Kupka and his wife, Miranda of Canute, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Julie Kupka of Canute, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Ray Nix of Elk City, Oklahoma along with numerous other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Kupka; son, Jeffrey Kupka and her parents, Dewey and Mary Nix; son-in-law, Ranny Brinkley; brother, George Nix.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 707, Elk City, Oklahoma 73648.
