William Edward "Bill" Farrar, 83, passed away on December 31, 2017. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Angela Craig Farrar; his parents, Claude and Helen Farrar of Houston, TX, brother Herbert Farrar of Houston, TX and his son William Neel Farrar of Homewood. He is survived by his sister Joyce Butson of Houston, TX, his second wife, Barbara Euler of Hoover, his son Mark Edward Farrar of Homewood and daughter Julie (Darryl) Moses of Herrin, IL, daughter in law Jayna (Mark) Farrar Estes and grandchildren Josh Farrar and Hannah Farrar of Homewood, Mary Hannah Higgs of Montevallo, Ella Gimenez of Melrose, MA and Benjamin Moses of Herrin, IL.

Bill was born and raised in Houston, TX. He received his PhD from University of Houston. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Bill moved to Birmingham in 1968 to take a position as an Psychology Professor at UAB. He married Barbara Euler in 2006 and they have enjoyed each other's company and love over the past 11 years. Bill enjoyed an active and full retirement with his wife, Barbara. He loved and was loved by his children and grandchildren. Bill enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and singing, including in Voices of the South Barbershop Chorus. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church singing in the Sanctuary Choir, Men's Chorus and the Trinity Singers as well as founding member of the Cartwright Class.

Bill and Angela were foster parents to multiple children. He was compassionate about stewardship, giving to several charitable organizations with a special heart for animal charities. The family would like to extend appreciation to Compassus Hospice for their loving care over the past three weeks. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Mark Farrar's Special Needs Trust. Please contact Julie Farrar Moses for information on the trust. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 3rd 2018 from 6 PM-8 PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Homewood at 11:00 AM.
