According to John Clark Pollock's Death certificate, his burial is at the Spring Run Brethren Cemetery and he died as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage. John married Hattie Belle Bilger on 1 Dec 1890.

John Clark Pollock and Hattie Bell Bilger Pollock Burial - I (Wendy Pollock) had written a letter to the Spring Run Church in McVeytown, Mifflin County, PA regarding the Spring Run Cemetery. I received a May 4, 2009 reply from Leon A Rhodes of McVeytown, Pennsylvania who said that he has the maps and records for the cemetery and that the old records are not well recorded. He wrote that "this lot #123 East half was purchased by Samuel Hassenplug on August 18, 1931. He paid $9.00 for it. My map shows a marker for Hattie Pollock is there and the rest of the lot is full, but no markers are there. This was during the depression so I suppose there weren't much money at this time to buy grave stones."

"As for church records, a few years ago, our church basement was flooded and some of the old records were destroyed by the water."

There are several Pollock families here locally. Don't know whether they are your relatives or not. There are no other Pollocks buried in our cemetery."

I sent a written reply to Mr. Rhodes asking him for a few more details. On Tuesday, 26 may 2009, Mr. Rhodes called me. His voice sounded as if he were an older gentlemen and it seemed as if he was one who got pleasure out of helping others. He explained that at the time of Hattie's death, a lot consisted of 8 graves and that sometimes a family only bought half a lot. He said that Hattie Bell Bilger Pollock was buried in the bottom of four graves and that the other three go up the hill from her tombstone. Mr. Rhodes said that he had spoken with a Mrs. Lee Fisher of McVeytown, PA (wife of David Lee Fisher) who had a wealth of information regarding the cemeteries in the area and that she verified that John Clark Pollock had been buried beside Hattie Bell Bilger Pollock and that he did not have a tombstone. Mr. Rhodes did not have record of who was buried in the other two graves.

Mr. Rhodes said that Mrs. Lee Fisher told him that John Clark Pollock wasn't liked a lot and this may have been why there was no tombstone. My thought on this is that this statement is an opinion and should not be taken as fact. I would hate to paint what could have been a great man with a muddy paint brush.

Lastly, Mr. Rhodes said that the $9.00 for the purchase of the lot (or half lot) could have been a partial payment.
