The Zahrbock Funeral Home of Madison announces the death of 96 year old Lucille Borstad of Madison who passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Madison Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church.
Pastor David Hall will officiate at the service and burial will be in the Hegre Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.
Lucille Waggoner was born on April 7, 1921 to parents Emory and Mintni (Dewey) Waggoner at Cottonwood, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Madison Lutheran Church.
Lucille attended school in Madison and graduated in 1941. She was united in marriage to Hervin Borstad by Rev. Tetlie at the church parsonage. To this union five children were born.
After their marriage, Lucille and Hervin lived and farmed on the Borstad Farm and raised their family. They retired in 1989 and they purchased a home in Madison. In November of 2001, they moved into Hilltop Apartments in Madison. Lucille moved into the Madison Lutheran Home on November 3, 2013.
In life, Lucille enjoyed sewing, baking cooking, canning, flower gardens, playing cards and dancing. She especially enjoyed being with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She also enjoyed visiting with her dear friends in San Diego, California.
Death came to Lucille on January 2, 2018 at the Madison Lutheran Home. She had reached the age of 96 years, 8 months and 25 days.
She is survived by her children; Mavis (Myron) Bengston of Kandiyohi, MN; Eunice (Sam) Holt of Maple Lake, MN; Nancy (Jim) Ondov of Lakeville, MN; Gail (Dan) DeToy of Sun City, AZ, and Duane (Deb) Borstad of Madison, MN; grandchildren; Marcia (Tom) Whitcomb of New Prague, MN, Mel (Cory) Speets of Victoria, MN, Liz (Holt) Barthel of Buffalo, MN, Shelley (Mike) Lindenfelser of Waverly, MN, Daniel Ondov (bride to be) Stacy Burmeister of St. Louis, MO, Boe (Tina) DeToy of Morris, MN, Jay (Dee) DeToy of Benson, MN, Justin (Jenny) Borstad of Little Falls, MN, Brent (Jessica) Borstad of Madison, MN, Meghan (Jesse) Flores of Milan, MN and Alex Borstad of Madison, MN and 19 great-grandchildren.
