Pensacola - Leonard Russell & Elaine Joyce Blomquist

Elaine J Blomquist passed away on January 15, 2018, 11 days after the loss of her husband of 66 years, Leonard R. Blomquist who died on January 4, 2018. The couple had been residents of Pensacola, FL for the past 20 years, after spending the majority of their lives in Northern Indiana.

They were each preceded in death by their parents, Mary V. Comstock & Russell W. Blomquist, as well as Eleanor N. Caesar & Alex T. Schulze. Also preceding them in death are siblings Gene Hubbard, Helen Blomquist, Mildred Blomquist, and Ronald Schulze. They are survived by two daughters, LeeAnn (John) Welker and Sandera (Mike) Goen, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild. Also surviving are siblings Phyllis (Richard) Streignitz, Howard (Nancy) Schulze, Harriett (Eldo) Gorr, Ramona (Howard) Nelson, and Laurel Ginsberg.

Leonard served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, and retired as a Sheet Metal Worker Union member after more than 35 years of employment. Leonard was involved with the Orak Shrine Club riding on mini bikes in support of children's charities with Elaine cheering him on. Elaine was a full-time mom and homemaker.

Leonard & Elaine were married for 66 years. They loved to be around family and friends. You could always find them at weekend garage sales and flea marketing.

The Blomquist family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at Sacred Heart Covenant Care Inpatient Center for Leonard and Rosewood Healthcare and Rehab Center for Elaine for their great care of our parents.

A combined memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home at 11:00. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home.
