Bessie Viola Bohannon, 94, of Ramah, Colorado, formerly of Springfield, passed away on December 20, 2017 at St. John's Hospital. She was born on April 2, 1923 in Plumas, Manitoba Canada to Marion Edward and Mary Jane Jellis Pantier. Bessie married Robert Bohannon in Springfield in 1945 and he preceded her in death in March of 2012.

Mrs. Bohannon is survived by one son Kenneth Bohannon of Montana, one brother James Pantier of Springfield, five grandchildren: Amanda Bartling of Bainbridge Island, WA., Gary Lee (Debi) Bartling of Omaha, NE., Daniel (Samantha) Bartling of Riley, CO., Bobby (Jenny) Bohannon of Arkansas and Brian (Lucy) Bohannon of Missouri as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her daughter Geraldine Bartling and her eleven year old son Robert Bohannon Jr.

Bessie was an assembly line worker at Red Seal Potato Chip Factory in Denver, Colorado, serving as a Union Steward and also worked as a Nurses Aid in both Colorado and Springfield. Bessie and Robert lived on forty acres in Ramah, Colorado, where they enjoyed riding four wheelers and raising pigs and goats. She lived for her grandchildren, cherished her lady friends in Ramah, and loved her Australian Shepherd Rowdy.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, IL.
