Ethel Elsie Pickett born January 9, 1919, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the age of 98.

She was preceded in death by her husband James E. Pickett, and her parents Robert E. and Eugenia Adams VanDeventer.

She was born in Fullerton, Louisiana, a sawmill town.

Mrs. Pickett graduated from Stephen F. Austin and was an elementary school teacher.

She received a Master's degree from Hardin-Simmons University.

She was active in the church and worked many years in the primary age group. Also, she began the first kindergarten at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. She was active in many areas including Choir and G.A.'s and had a love for swimming and bridge.

Mrs. Pickett is survived by her daughter, Martha Reeder, and a son, Richard Pickett. She has two grandchildren, Greg Reeder and Sara Knight, and two great grandchildren, Mallory Reeder and Andre Holtzhausen.

There will be a visitation on Sunday January 7th from 5 – 7pm at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home at 5701 US Highway 277 South. The funeral service will be held at 10am on Monday January 8th at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
