Bruce was a brilliant student in high school and at NYU. He entered a political science doctoral program at Washington University, and later wrote a scholarly analysis of Marxism which was published in book form in 1973.
His father wrote in an autobiography, "The birth of my first and only son, Bruce, nine pounds of beautiful baby born in Lying In Hospital -- inconceivable that he would succumb to drugs decades later. My love for him never dies." Bruce eventually served time for drug dealing in a New York prison.
Cause of death: AIDS due to intravenous drug use.
