Annabelle Ruth Nacke Annabelle Ruth Nacke was born in Hebron, Nebraska on December 24, 1924, the third child of Albert J. Nacke and Frederica Haug Nacke. She was baptized by Fr. Joseph Ress, Sacred Heart Church, Hebron on January 4, 1925 . Annabelle died in her home January 1, 2018 at the age of 93 years.

Her godparents were Herman and Dora Nacke . She was a life-long resident in Hebron.

She attended Sacred Heart school and remained a parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish her entire life.

Annabelle met no strangers and so in listing her “accomplishments” it is true to say that she liked to meet and be with people. We liked to joke in saying that she knew not only everyone in town but in the county! She came to know people and talk with them in a variety of settings including parish dinners, selling poppies for the American legion (she was a top seller), selling chances on quilts for fundraisers, and travel. A good deal of her knowledge came also from her many baby-sitting jobs throughout the years. As those babies moved into adulthood, she would always remember them and they in turn remembered her. She was generous with her time and was seen in her late 80’s rising early to put up flags around the courthouse for Memorial Day. All these things were recognized when she was made Grand Marshall of the 4th of July parade, 2015.

Annabelle was a strong member of the Hebron Bowling Team earning many trophies. In her later years she became an avid reader and enjoyed biographies along with any information about the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The “Cornhuskers” were “her team” and she took great pleasure in supporting them. The sports section of the daily paper and activities of the team was a first in her reading of the paper.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles, and sister Geraldine Hess,

She leaves to mourn her sister Mary, who cared for her; her sister Betty Mahoney and husband Tim of Houston, TX; her sister, Sr. Margaret, CSJ of Belleville, KS and her brother, Fr. Xavier, OSB of Conception Abbey, Conception, MO.
