West Jordan, UT – Our father passed away at his home surrounded by loving family members on January 1, 2018. Our dad lived a good life with no regrets. His family was the pride of his life and would do anything for them. Dad was known as “Clyde the Barber” for 59 years, with his shop located on State Street in South Salt Lake. Dad was an avid fisherman and looked forward to his weekly fishing trips with his fishing buddies. Our dad enjoyed bowling his whole life, even up to the final year of his life.
Our dad got all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren involved in the 4-H program, showing steers at the Salt Lake County Fair. He enjoyed every minute of it and looked forward to it every year.

Dad married the love of his life, Erma Lee Wharton, on August 22, 1953 and later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
He was preceded in death by his wife Erma, whom he missed very much, daughter Tracy, and great granddaughter Trinady. He is survived by his children Clydine (Dave) Carlson, Chris (Collette) Ashcroft, Rick (Mary Jane) Ashcroft, Curtis (Connie) Ashcroft, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, sisters LaRue Mitchell, Karma (Cliff) Meyers, brother Gary Ashcroft, in laws Ethelene Worton, Darrel (Shelly) Wharton, Wanda King, Lucy Westerberg, and Dale (Trina) Wharton.

Our family would like to express our gratitude to the hospice team, Steve, Francessa, and Charlotte for their compassionate service.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Westland 7th Ward, 7100 S. 3200 W. West Jordan, UT. A viewing will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 from 6-8 P.M. at Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 S. 2200 W. Riverton, UT, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the West Jordan City Cemetery.
