RICHARD V. ARMS
NEWPORT NEWS - Richard Victor Arms, 67, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, at Regency Health Care in Yorktown.
A native of Seminole, Okla., he had been a Peninsula resident for the past 50 years. Mr. Arms retired as a foreman from BASF in 1987 after 30 years of service. He was a real estate investor in the Peninsula area for over 30 years and a former loan officer with Lomas and Nettleton. He worked with H&R Block in the 1960s and later as an independent tax preparer. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Arms is survived by his parents, Thomas J. and Ruby D. Arms of Tipton, Calif.; his beloved wife of 48 years, Ruby Arms; three sons, Richard V. Arms Jr. of Williamsburg, Ronnie R. Arms of Newport News and Rodney L. Arms of Poquoson; three brothers, Thomas, Herman G. and Harold C.; two sisters, Theda and Reba Sue; and six grandchildren, Heather R. Arms, Victoria W. Arms, Veronica K. Arms, Joshua L. Brendle, Brittany A. Arms and Orie L. Arms.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Weymouth Funeral Home by the Rev. Bobby Collins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 30 minutes before the service. Interment will be in Peninsula Memorial Park. Copyright Chicago Tribune Co. Sep 9, 1998.
