Mildred I. Fisher, 93, of Tamaroa, passed away at 6:15 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Mildred had been a homemaker. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa. Mildred was an avid gardener and loved working with her garden and flowers. She loved painting on the project that was Christmas Lane in Tamaroa. Her love was quilting for the church and children. She really enjoyed fishing with her sister, Virginia, every evening when time allowed them to get together. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She loved her faith and the Catholic church, praying the rosary every evening with her sister.

She was born January 20, 1924 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Kucharski) Szczeblewski.

She married Ray R. Fisher on October 4, 1941 at Chicago, IL and he preceded her in death on August 8, 2004.

She is survived by three children, Barbara Taylor and husband, Paul, Dennis Fisher and wife, Sherry, and Connie Rucks and husband, Tom, all of Tamaroa; one sister, Virginia Wisniewski of Tamaroa; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Thomas Fisher; and three brothers, Ray Szczeblewski, Joe Szczeblewski and her twin brother, Milford Szczeblewski..

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery at Tamaroa.

Friends may make memorials to Masses or the Food Pantry and will be accepted at the funeral home.
