"A celebration of the life of Samuel T Lindley and a potluck dinner will be held on May 5 at 1 p.m. at the Topaz Landing, Topaz Lake.
Sam Lindley, 79, succumbed to cancer January 23, 2001 at Regent Care Center in Reno.
He was born on December 31, 1921, to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bert Lindley.
Known to all as "Old Sam," as well as "Easy Pickens." He worked as a professional rodeo cowboy, clown, truck driver and trainer for Sleeping Elephant and Red Hills gun clubs. He also played bit parts in serval movies such as "The Ballad of Cable Hogue" and "Blazing Saddles."
Mr. Lindley was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. During the 15 years he lived in the Topaz Lake area, he bread, raised, trained and sold AKC registered hunting dogs for friends and customers and donated several to area Ducks Unlimited chapters.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Louis B. Lindley, a western actor known as "Slim Pickens."
Surviving are sons (Private) Lindley Kimmins of Nashville, Tennessee, John Lindley Kimmins of Waterford, Michigan, John Sharpe of Stockton, California, and nephew, Thomas Lindley of Washoe Valley."

According to Sam's wishes, he was cremated and his ashes scattered in his beloved Topaz Lake.
