Joyce Mae Deaton Booker, age 85, passed from this life on Monday, December 25, 2017 at Springbrook Nursing & Rehab Center in Hazen, where she had been a resident for the past several years.

She was born to Robert Deaton and Geraldine Parks Deaton in Stuttgart, Arkansas on June 6, 1932. She moved to the Bethlehem community near Clarendon at the age of 13 and made her home there. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with family.

On September 5, 1946, Joyce accepted the Lord as her Saviour and became a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, VBS director and was always willing to help the church and church family in any way possible. She was active in the church until her health began to fail.

She and John Wesley Booker were united in marriage on June 20, 1948. They were blessed with three children and continued to live in the Bethlehem community throughout life.
