William Edward "Eddie" Leatherwood, Jr., 80, of Jonesboro, died Saturday morning at his home.
Born in Memphis, Eddie lived in Corinth, Mississippi before moving to Jonesboro in 1998. He worked for Kroger in Jonesboro before moving to Cornith where he owned and operated the Jiffie Mart Grocery from 1963-1993.

Eddie was a member of Nettleton Church of Christ and served in the Merchant Marines. He was preceded in death by his parents: William, Sr. and Mary Brown Leatherwood, by 2 brothers: Franklin Leatherwood, Billy Joe Leatherwood; and by 2 sisters: Shirley Leatherwood and Augustine Combs.

Survivors include:

His Wife: Johnie Slaughter Leatherwood of the home;

1 Daughter and Son-in-law: Lina and Steve Owens of Jonesboro;

1 Son: Mike Leatherwood of Jonesboro;

1 Brother: Charles Wayne Leatherwood of Brighton, Tennessee;

3 Grandchildren: Anna Morales, Jaime Leatherwood and Jessica Leatherwood; and

3 Great Grandchildren: Rein Morales, Jett Morales and Mason Leatherwood.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jimmy Young officiating. Private burial will follow in Cash Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
