Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tockey, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Tockey, Mrs. Elmer Hilmer and Jack Tockey attended the funeral for Mrs. Lester (Grace) Johnson of Grand Island held at the Livingston-Sonderman funeral home Tuesday Rev Wayne Delton pastor of the Baptist church was in charge.
Mrs. Johnson grew to womanhood in the Boelus vicinity. She was born Dec 14 1879 at Davenport, Ia. to Mr. and Mrs. John Tockey. As a child they moved to Nebraska and farmed in Sherman county She was married to Lester Johnson March 15 , 1897. They observed their golden wedding at Cairo.
Nine children were born, who with Mr. Johnson survive; five sons; Roy, Ralph, Henry, John, and Lloyd; 4 daughters, Mrs. Dora Kensinger, Mrs. Arthur Whitt, Grand Island, Mrs. Charles Swanson, Cairo, and Mrs. A. S. Wedice, Clinton, Ia; 23 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Henry Tockey, Boelus.
Preceding her were the parents, two brothers, George and Charley Tockey and two sisters, Mrs. Herman Neuman and Mrs. Mars Aldrup.
For several years Mrs. Johnson's health had been very poorly. She passed away at a Grand Island hospital Monday Oct. 18 at the age of 66 years, 19 months and 4 days. Interment was made in the Grand Island Cemetery.
