married Zamora Martin on May 30, 1893 in Las Vegas,New Mexico

graduated from the Las Vegas Academy in 1888
started a printing business in 1889
Bought the STOCK GROWER AND FARMER, a weekly newspaper in 1889

in 1893 started the LAS VEGAS EXAMINER. In 1898
he hand his brother, Charles Wesley Allen bought
the Las Vegas OPTIC which they consoldidated with the EXAMINER.

Lafayette sold the OPTIC in 1905 and moved to Bisbee, Arizona. He And brother Charles built the Allen block.

In 1911 Lafayette moved to North Miami Beach Florida and became a land developer.
