Jean grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas and was a 1971 graduate of Southside High School. She earned Bachelor and Masters Degrees at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Jean married Dennis Woody, also of Fort Smith, on June 20, 1981 and the couple relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1982.
She taught at Darby Jr High School in Fort Smith and in Tulsa Union Public School System before accepting a position as a Associate Professor of Mathematics at Tulsa Community College where she worked for 27 years. Additionally she was a officer in AMATYC, a professional organization for mathematic professors at 2 year colleges. She was an avid gardener and loved arts and crafts such as quilting and knitting. Jean loved animals of all types and was a strong believer in caring for all God's creatures.
Jean is survived by her husband Dennis, brother William Osbun and his wife Martha, Aunt Betty Taylor of Sparta, MI mother-in-law Dorothy Woody, sister-in-law Paula Woolf and her husband Steven, four nephews, Joshua Osbun, Nathan Osbun, Jason Woolf, Kevin Woolf, and one niece Lindsay Woolf Granger.
Jean's father, mother, and father-in-law preceded her in death.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. Thursday Jan 4, 2018. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Leonard & Marker Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Dr. Larry DeLay. Interment services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan 5 in the Ft. Smith National Cemetery in Ft. Smith, AR.
