Wilma Jean Bryant Rhodes, 85, wife of Joseph Sherman “Buddy” Rhodes, passed away, Tuesday, December 26, 2017. She was born August 10, 1932 to the late Dorsey and Lillie McClure Bryant. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and servant of the Lord. Including over fifty years to the ministries of Bethel Baptist Church of Frenchburg, KY as the founding member of the Christian Workers Club, the Visionary and founder of Beulah Land Bible Camp, founder of the Clothing Store, a sunday school teacher, fed and supported countless missionaries and evangelists. “ a soul well loved…by a life well lived”

She is survived by three sons, Timothy Paul Rhodes of Frenchburg, KY, John Sherman Rhodes (Valeria) of Mt. Sterling, KY and David Bruce Rhodes; one daughter, Mary Higgins (Mike) of Mt. Sterling, KY; nine grandchildren, John David Rhodes (Andrea) of Frenchburg, KY, James Samuel Rhodes (Tiffany) of Elsmere, KY, Allison Rhodes Whaley (Jason) of Jeffersonville, KY, Paul Joseph Rhodes (Samantha) of Morehead, KY, Angela Page Rhodes of Mt. Sterling, KY, Mark Timothy Rhodes (Jill) of Morehead, KY, Joseph Aaron Rhodes of Mt. Sterling, KY, Laura Elizabeth Higgins of Mt. Sterling, KY and Joseph Michael Higgins of Mt. Sterling, KY; and fourteen great grandchildren, Jacey Whaley, Jaxon Whaley, Bella Rhodes, Macyn Whaley, Keightley Whaley, Abigail Rhodes, Marlowe Whaley, Charlotte Rhodes, Ainsley, Nora Rhodes, Nixon Whaley, Declan Rhodes, Jensyn Rhodes and WillaGrey Whaley.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Bryant, Willard Bryant and Herbert Bryant; two sisters, Selma Bryant Little and Audra “Polly” Bryant Spratt; and one great grandchild, Caleb James Rhodes.

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Monday, January 1, 2018 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating, burial in Beulah Land Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will 3-9 PM, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church and 11 AM-1PM, Monday, January 1, 2018 at Bethel Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Mark Rhodes, Paul Rhodes, John Daniel Rhodes, James Rhodes, Jason Whaley and Paul Egelston. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Beulah Land Bible Camp c/o, PO Box 141, Frenchburg, KY 40322 or Bethel Baptist Church, PO Box 141, Frenchburg, KY 40322.
