Burnette Mansfield Pitts, age 94, died on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Graham, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 in the Newcastle Cemetery with C.J. Frazier, Youth Pastor of First Baptist Church in Olney, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Burnette was born on July 28, 1923 in Folsom, Louisiana to the late Lonit Mansfield and Lozane (Ard) Mansfield. She married Lawrence Pitts on November 13, 1944 in Graham, Texas. She retired from the Newcastle ISD in 1984, serving as a faithful and dedicated worker in the school cafeteria for 22 years. Burnette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence on February 3, 1996, four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law: Preston and Argelia Pitts of Houston, Texas and Edward and Sherry Pitts of China Spring, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Martha Pitts Freudensprung and Bobby of Newcastle, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Melton and Jenny Mansfield of Algiers, Louisiana and Harvey and Doris Mansfield of Mandeville, Louisiana; four grandchildren: Jeffery Pitts and wife Kristin of Fulshear, Texas, Dusty Pitts of China Spring, Texas, Swain Gonzalez and husband Mario of Houston, Texas, Sharlee Shahshahani of Houston, Texas; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of ones choice.
